Editorial Policy
Last updated: August 31, 2025
Yokogao Magazine is an independent platform dedicated to Japanese culture and subculture. Our mission is to provide thoughtful, in-depth editorial coverage that explores the hidden, the overlooked, and the culturally significant.
Image Use
Visual material on this site is used for editorial purposes only: to describe, analyze, or report on the cultural subjects we write about. We do not use images as decoration or filler. Every image is selected because it is directly relevant to the accompanying text.
We prioritize public domain works, Creative Commons material, and brand-released press assets.
In cases where images are used under the principle of editorial/fair use, they appear only in the context of commentary, criticism, or news reporting.
All rights remain with the original copyright holders. Where possible, we provide credit to artists, photographers, and sources.
Sponsored Content
Occasionally, Yokogao produces collaborative editorials with brands. These are clearly labeled as such. In sponsored content, only images provided by the brand, created by Yokogao, or sourced from public domain/Creative Commons are used. We do not mix unlicensed third-party copyrighted works into commercial collaborations.
Takedown Policy
If you are a rights holder and believe your work has been used on Yokogao Magazine in a way that you do not approve of, please contact us. We are committed to responding quickly and respectfully, including removal upon request.
Transparency & Integrity
We operate with the belief that cultural commentary serves the public interest, but we also respect the rights of creators. Our editorial use of images is guided by good faith, transparency, and respect for original authorship.
